"Du sol aux murs", peintures éphémères de l'Inde

I am delighted to present my latest book, conceived as a travel notebook and illustrated with photographs and drawings, published by  Éditions Geuthner, in Paris. With a preface by Catherine Clément.

The ephemeral paintings that grace the floors and walls of India unfold like living tapestries, capturing the essence of religious rituals, seasonal festivals, foundational myths and mythological narratives. Each creation offers a unique perspective on India’s graphic and cultural heritage, expressed through a great diversity of forms and colours. From Kerala to Tamil Nadu, and across the villages of Rajasthan, Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand, each region reveals its own distinctive style. Here, often anonymous artists perpetuate ancestral gestures, creating motifs that celebrate life, the divine and nature, all the while attuning to the rhythm of time and the seasons.
Copies are available for purchase directly from the publisher.

A glimpse inside my book

If, however, you are interested in the topic of floor paintings, it is possible to read the latest issue of MARG, written by multiple authors, — including my own piece on the kalam of Kerala — in English.
